First Vision statuette

First Vision statuette

This statuette, which depicts the First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith, is a replica of a larger statue on display at the Visitors Center at the Nauvoo Temple. I took it while visiting my friend John Power and experimenting with some of his photographic equipment. This was the first time I ever used any kind of flash attachment on my Nikon D50. I bounced the flash off the ceiling when I took this picture, and the statuette itself had been placed on a sofa. I took several versions of the photo, but in some of the others the statuette appeared out of focus; and in another, which I may post later, I did not use flash at all, and the color tones are noticeably cooler.
